Damn I love Directgov Student Finance
Three minutes and seven clicks later, I now have £6.5k for the next academic year I worry about in years to come.
Ain’t life grand?

This is what I look like when I am in desperate need sleep. Headphones plugged in, usually Trivium or Pendulum blasting through them in a desperate attempt to keep me awake long enough to finish my University work
It has come to that time of year when Uni decides that, as a student, you do not deserve to eat or sleep like a normal person.
Luckily for me, I have now finished the essay due in for tomorrow and shall soon be making a nest in my bed. I have to be awake enough tomorrow to hand the bugger in and buy Pokemon HeartGold [Something to procastonate (sp?) with - woooooooo] and to help at Hull Film Festival in the evening - it’s gonna be another late one :/
Only another 6500 words to go before graduation - I’m sure the bounties of Windows Media Player will get me through. Either that or find itself blasted through the window :)
Currently Listening to - Trivium: Ember to Inferno (Tis old skool. Like 2003 old skool)
Congrats on finishing your essay! I’m sadly still not privileged to eat and sleep healthily, at least ‘till 8th May.
Oh, and I love the whitespace thing you got going in that room of yours.
Valentine’s Day 2010 didn’t work out so great for me
So I’ve pulled an all-nighter tonight for today’s hand-in for the compiler coursework I unfortunately missed last semester which left me in complete shambles with regards to my knowledge of the subject after the multiple incidents and surgery on my lung back in October and I’ve been off track ever since.
Thankfully, I had all the paperwork submitted for making a claim for mitigating circumstances for the compiler coursework. However with little to no understanding of the subject and only a delayed deadline for the submission I’ve struggled alone throughout the assignment until judgement day came.
Sadly, that day is today as the hand-in time is in less than next two hours. I have unfortunately been unsuccessful in completing the assignment as this behemoth got the better of me. From there on it’s up to my lecturer to assess and provide a reasonable mark for the work produced before discussing my so-called ‘case’ to the mitigating circumstances board at 1pm where they will ultimately decide whether or not a mark boost is to be rewarded given my situation. If all goes well, I barely pass the module and I can finally put all of this behind me. In the other hand, if my coursework is not up to the minimum 40% requirement along with the exam I sat in mid January I ultimately fail the module and therefore lose my honours for my degree. Either that or I choose to resit; the latter being the obvious choice I will make at a cost of dedicating the second half of August to revision and hard work in preparation for the summer resits.
Sorry to all my followers for the lack of posts recently along with the rather negative attitude within them. Whatever the outcome of today becomes, I plan to place this incident behind me and concentrate on my final year project and second semester in what is my final year before earning the title of BSc in Computer Science. I also plan to get back into the routine of casually posting and making Tumblr what I usually consider to be a hugely positive part of my life.
Hope all you guys had an enjoyable Sunday and look forward to getting back into doing the whole social thing on this site again.
Much love my dear followers,
Tom Lawrence.
Genuinely nervous about going back to university tomorrow. The month ahead could be even more challenging than the one I’ve already faced. I hope I can get my education back on track after already having a one month break, I have a lot of catching up to do and not much time to do it in.
I have a feeling things are gonna get pretty serious and I’m going to be giving up a lot of my spare time usually spent procrastinating on social networks and blogs, talking to my friends and playing video games but I know that in the long run, I’ll be better for it.
Sorry to all my inquisitive followers who are wondering where I’ve been for the last few days, but I’ve been a busy bee recently. I’ve helped Jonny film his latest and somewhat controversial vlog, set up and help out at a LAN party on university campus and a second LAN party at The Lawns student accommodation on Saturday. I also received both Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend through the post on Thursday which, along with four pieces of work for university have also greatly occupied my time.
I’m off to bed now, but I’ve decided to leave you with a Flash sound board you might like, I’m sure you can guess what movie it’s based off just by looking at the URL.
Goodnight!
Haha! I’m pretty confident I’ll be going next fall because I’m going to graduate the winter of 2011 and I want to spend my last two semesters in the states. Regardless, I’ll be in Europe this summer. Denmark, Copenhagen, UK, hopefully some Italy/Germany/France. Really wherever the wind takes us/we have the money to go. I’m going to use it as scouting for the fall. A head start, if you will. But yeah, I’ve been consistently set on going to the UK since I was a sophomore in High School. I keep drifting away from it, trying to figure out if I should experience something totally foreign instead but it keeps drawing me back. Plus, I know a TON of people who have studied either in London or not far outside of it and LOVED it.This is really funny. I’ve been looking into programs since my freshman year but due to transferring, haven’t been able to pin down one I’m thrilled about. Ironically, some of the ones I’ve considered have been very similar. When are you considering going abroad?
- Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, England. It’s located in a cute little market town near Liverpool and Manchester. It’s one of the cheapest choices at $13,135.00 That’s about $4,000 cheaper then what I pay to go here.
- CAPA:London in, obviously, London, England. It has courses for my majors and it’s in LONDON. Duh! The housing is really easy, and everything is pretty much organized and taken care of for you.
- CAPA:Sydney in, Sydney, Australia. It’s beautiful, warm, gorgeous, far away. The price is also cheaper than my tuition here. They have my majors, also. It’d be from August to December for Fall, so I’d be there longer.
- MICEFA in Paris, France. It helps with my major because part of major is speaking French. I could use my 7 years of speaking French, FINALLY! It’s cheaper than my tuition here. I can have some of my courses taught in French. My best friend has family in France, and I want to visit them.
…and that’s it. I’ve always said I was going to study abroad in Ireland, but that program is so much. It’s about $20,000.00 and that’s a bit too much for my financial aid. Plus, the requirements are much more than the other study abroad options. It makes me so, so sad to not even be considering Ireland, but I plan on moving there after college anyways. So I guess it just gives me even more of a reason to work hard to getting my ass over there, right?
I really want to do it next fall. If I have to, I’ll wait until next spring, but preferably next fall. You should do it next fall too, and we should take on Europe together. :)
As someone who is from the UK, I can give you information and my opinion of studying in the UK. I can tell you that Edge Hill is considered a bit of a joke as it only received University status as of 2005, but it’s still a university. Studying in London is always a blast, especially for international students as the city itself is a cultural landmark of the UK, though I don’t know of the organisation you’re referring to so I’m unaware of the value of the qualifications they hand out.
Unfortunately, this list only covers universities within the UK and not just places where you can study abroad but we have something called The Times Good University league tables every year. Most people like to boast about high ranked the university they studied at is, but if you look beyond that and actually click on individual universities, they provide exceptional reviews on just about everything you can think of when it comes to reviewing a school.

Sorry if I’ve come across snobby or insulting in any way, I certainly do not mean to if that is the case and just hope I can give you any help in one way or another. You might have to give each uni a Google if you wanna know what their stance is on international students. Also, if you have any questions you would like to ask me, please feel free to :)
Good luck with picking a place to study and hope you pick the UK! :p
I start back at university next week. I really need to start making an effort to correct my sleep pattern to something a little less Eastern Standard Time and a little more Greenwich Mean Time.
Argh, I hate time zones.
My new room (ish). Not even properly moved in yet but here’s my posters, boxes, bed, decorations and room layout. It’s certainly bigger than the room I had at my old place.
Oh, and there’s also a wardrobe and more stacked boxes round the corner by the door. And I’ve also left some space for when poster fair makes it way here in October.
Off to see John and celebrate his birthday, tonight should be a blast!
Which happens to be in my new bedroom which happens to be at my new place. I was dreading moving into a new house at first, but now I’ve made the move, I think that I have fallen in love with my new place. The bed’s a bit solid and the room smells of paint and other stale scents but hopefully my air fresheners will eventually mask the original smell.
Got a few things to organise tomorrow regarding bills, house maintainance, getting the lighting fixed and such but other than that I should be spending the day celebrating my mate’s birthday.
Oh, and can’t wait to talk to properly use the Internet tomorrow and do things like check my e-mail, check social networks, catch up on Tumblr, chat to some of my online friends and obviously waste some time on YouTube.
Electrician is here in 8 hours so I best get some sleep.
Goodnight interwebs!
