Watched Amélie on Film4 while the rest of the family sadly took their afternoon naps.
I have always found a person’s ignorance towards the need to read subtitles for two hours such a poor excuse for taking no interest in foreign films. Some people just don’t realise how blessed they are to live in an English speaking country where most of the world’s music, TV, film and literature are all in their native tongue.
Makes me wish I had the push to study a second language during my infancy.

They all thought it sucked. The first words to come out of my dad’s mouth were “I don’t get it” followed by calling the movie dull.
My dad then claimed it to be “unrealistic” that everyone would come together like that (stating they would all leave George Bailey to rot) and that it was stupid of him to leave his forgetful uncle Billy in charge of the $8000. On top of that my mother kept falling asleep throughout the movie and my sister told me the black and white picture along with poor sound quality was really off-putting and that the whole thing seemed lame.
Get a load of this: They all thought the movie felt emotionless. EMOTIONLESS I TELL YOU!
Seeing as how so many movies have paid tribute or reference or even taken the basic plot from this movie as well as the many quotes to have come out from the dialogue, am I going out of my mind here or something or am I just overrating this movie?

Three hours and forty minutes later and it’s finally over.
The weekend so far has been absolutely horrible, so horrible that in fact, I haven’t even felt like posting here.
To make things worse, I’m currently suffering from the dreaded common cold so slapping on the ultimate extended cut of my second favourite movie of the year (can you guess first place?) has made tonight the perfect evening in for me.
Here’s to hoping my cold magically disappears for my friend’s birthday meal I shall be attending tomorrow.
