Smile Friday: The Beach
Today has been awesome. Spent the afternoon out at the coast with some friends of mine (my housemate Luke is pictured on the right there) while the weather was good and most of us are still waiting in Hull to take our exams before heading home for the summer. Spent most of our time on the beach but also took the time to visit the amusements which led to my amazing gambling skills scoring £10 on the slots. Huzzah.
Evening entertainment consisted of Bomberman, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Zack and Miri Make a Porno and now Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.
If only all days were like this.
My fellow Tumblr friends, please welcome shinaku.
So glad to see this guy finally on Tumblr. He’s the first real friend I made back when I was in college and we’ve stuck together since. We both happen to take the same course (Computer Science) at the same university (University of Hull) and used to share a house together back in 2008/09 and come September this will once again be the case.
He’s a techie like myself who dedicates much of his spare time to programming yet somehow he remains much cooler than me so please give him a warm welcome and expect to see several reblogs of his content from me.
You know, ‘cause I’m nice like that.
Valentine’s Day 2010 didn’t work out so great for me
So I’ve pulled an all-nighter tonight for today’s hand-in for the compiler coursework I unfortunately missed last semester which left me in complete shambles with regards to my knowledge of the subject after the multiple incidents and surgery on my lung back in October and I’ve been off track ever since.
Thankfully, I had all the paperwork submitted for making a claim for mitigating circumstances for the compiler coursework. However with little to no understanding of the subject and only a delayed deadline for the submission I’ve struggled alone throughout the assignment until judgement day came.
Sadly, that day is today as the hand-in time is in less than next two hours. I have unfortunately been unsuccessful in completing the assignment as this behemoth got the better of me. From there on it’s up to my lecturer to assess and provide a reasonable mark for the work produced before discussing my so-called ‘case’ to the mitigating circumstances board at 1pm where they will ultimately decide whether or not a mark boost is to be rewarded given my situation. If all goes well, I barely pass the module and I can finally put all of this behind me. In the other hand, if my coursework is not up to the minimum 40% requirement along with the exam I sat in mid January I ultimately fail the module and therefore lose my honours for my degree. Either that or I choose to resit; the latter being the obvious choice I will make at a cost of dedicating the second half of August to revision and hard work in preparation for the summer resits.
Sorry to all my followers for the lack of posts recently along with the rather negative attitude within them. Whatever the outcome of today becomes, I plan to place this incident behind me and concentrate on my final year project and second semester in what is my final year before earning the title of BSc in Computer Science. I also plan to get back into the routine of casually posting and making Tumblr what I usually consider to be a hugely positive part of my life.
Hope all you guys had an enjoyable Sunday and look forward to getting back into doing the whole social thing on this site again.
Much love my dear followers,
Tom Lawrence.
Okay, so here’s a story worth tumbling about
So I’m sat by my bedroom window playing guitar. I just so happen to be playing Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer when I decide to look out of the window where I notice this woman in the street just staring up at me.
I stop for a second and look at her and we end up staring at each other for a few seconds where we both kinda blush before she then runs off down the street.
After laughing my ass off for the last 5 minutes, I’m now left with a big smile on my face.
Hope she found it as funny and amusing as I did. Good times.
This afternoon…
Was awesome. Contents included going to town, meeting up with friends, heading to Starbucks, Gamestation, CEX, Waterstones and then the interchange for a bus back to my place for a Beatles: Rock Band/Rock Band 2 sesh before clearing off some leftover sushi and cooking some curry.
Off to the beach and the rest of the seaside tomorrow.
Life is good.
