He taught me a lot, showed lots of support and has been one of those friends you couldn’t ask for more for. Happy Birthday, Casey P.

Look at that GQ dude on the left. That’s Casey Palmer, aka Doomsdayblaze. He was one of the first people I wrote rhymes with on the internet, back in 2002 or so. We were on LiveJournal and he was a funny guy who had hilarious punchlines and was quite inspirational in keeping me writing. At one point we had the group name of ‘Mic Wreckahs’ alongside our friend George who went by Lunz at the time (now Tubbz).
He was the first person to tell me to push through the pain barrier when writing, the first person to follow me on Tumblr, the first person to encourage me recording and offer advice, and always an open ear. In 2004, he visited the UK as part of a travel around Europe thing, and we went to a few clubs, and he encouraged the ethos of dance as though no-one’s watching. We did, and we got a whole crowd involved. It was a party, partly from people who wanted to take a stab at bboying, partly from people who were just surprised to see such enthusiasm and energy on a dance floor in London. If you’ve ever seen Brits at a gig, its like hipsters at the Bowery - standing still, not moving, barely clapping etc. - that’s how we are on dance floors too.
In 2004 we hung out, and it was every bit as it had seemed online. We were great friends in both worlds. That’s when I started to close the gap between Internet friendships and ‘real life’ friendships. They were all real life, its just some people lived further away than others. They still do.
In 2006, Casey flew to Los Angeles, along with a few other friends (Cheryl, Maz, Christiana, Maria, Khalid) to join Ryan, Jeanne, Charles, Matt and more in celebrating my 21st birthday, and it was a brilliant birthday. I still owe Casey a trip to Canada. I have to go visit because he’s made two excellent trips and I owe him.
Khalid’s the guy I stay with in New York. A great support and I’ll be seeing him soon. Maria’s off everyone’s radar now. Christiana is celebrating her birthday in NYC in October whilst I’m there. Cheryl and Maz are Brits who I don’t really see as often as I used to - we drifted apart somewhat, musically and friends wise. That’s OK. There’s no ill feelings.
One time, whilst I was at University, I went on this epic bar crawl near my University. There were about 10-12 pubs and bars all with student discounts along this stretch of road between Borough and Elephant and Castle. They weren’t great bars, but it was cheap. For some reason, when trying to get home, I was a little lost and I picked up my phone and called old reliable Casey. Except he was back in Canada. I apparently have made a habit out of calling internationally now, be it Sara, Khalid, MB or others of you. I just like your voices.
Anyway, this good looking dude is celebrating his birthday today, and I’m just overjoyed to have met him and read his rhymes, read his comics (http://doomsdayblaze.com) and enjoyed him as a person (nohomo). Happy Birthday, Casey.

On top of all this, he’s a huge Capcom fan and a lover of Mega Man.
You can’t argue with that. Happy Birthday Casey!

Birthday over. Huge success.

Finally caught up on my dashboard (don’t be creeped by my burst of likes if you have them) after eventually recovering from the effects of Sunday night’s ridiculous quantity of tequila shots (thanks Jonny, especially for that god-damn Long Island Iced Tea: three parts vodka, three parts tequila, three parts white rum and, yes, three parts gin that I ended up necking) that I really shouldn’t have drank having not eaten all day.

Of course, my insides felt like utter shit yesterday morning after throwing my guts up the night before and getting carried back much to everyone’s amusement but hey, we all do it when we turn 21. And you know what, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Kevin reminded me that it doesn’t matter what you do as long as it’s with a bunch of awesome people (thank you Hull). Sure, the majority of my awesome followers weren’t there to celebrate with me although rest assured for some of you, this problem shall be rectified come August 1st.

Regarding the wedding I arrived at in the neck of time, thanks to Justin for advising me to go hit on the bridesmaid. The funny truth is, one of them actually came over to me. Being the complete geek that I am, I just froze and replied with “Errrr… thanks”. I’m terrible at handling such situations.

Short break over; back to wasting my time on the Internet again.

Tumblr I have a favour to ask.

I’m turning twenty one tomorrow and I have absolutely NOTHING planned whatsoever. I’d love to take the time to pull a plan out of my ass but I really don’t have the time as I’ve got a wedding to attend today.

If you got any ideas for last minute birthday plans, I would greatly appreciate it if you could leave them below.

Please?

Netherlands vs Germany World Cup Final

I’m calling it RIGHT NOW!

Plus it’s my 21st birthday on the same day. Looking forward to pretending that people are celebrating my birthday instead of the outcome of the match.

Mother’s Birthday Surprise [Failure]

Seeing how tomorrow is my mum’s birthday and I don’t live with my family, I thought I’d plan an unexpected surprise for her by turning up at my parent’s house on the morning of her birthday, which happens to be tomorrow.

My plan began with staying awake through all of last night so I would sleep throughout today’s daylight so that I would feel wide and awake come nightfall. After treating the night like a typical morning, I then planned to catch the 4am train and hopefully make it home in time to wish my mum happy birthday before she had to set off to work. When my mum would arrive home from work, my dad would then reveal to her that he had booked a table for the whole family at her favourite restaurant which would turn into a wonderful evening together as a family and an awesome birthday for my mum.

Sadly, this is where the plan turned sour: My dad failed to book a table for her birthday. So now my dad calls me up and tells me not to come home until Friday, informing me we will now be celebrating her birthday a day later instead of Thursday. Except on Friday there’s no early trains I can catch that will allow me to surprise her. So now that I have my sleep pattern knocked twelve hours out, I now have to amend my sleep pattern to it’s original state in time for my mum’s now delayed birthday, leaving my body feeling like utter shit.

The things you do for family. Good job I hadn’t purchased the train tickets I guess.

Woop, it was your birthday over here exactly 41 minutes ago.

So umm… happy birthday from me! Have a good ‘un and talk soon :-)

whatwhatwhat:
It’s official. The birthday was great. Nothing bad happened. The streak is broken. My Mom and Dad visited, brought me a two layer Funfetti birthday cake, candles, and all the accouterments, a bouquet of yellow roses, homemade chicken nuggets, some of my favorite cheese from the deli, and bottled water (I think they think I’m malnourished at school). I love them. A lot. Thanks for all the happy birthday wishes. They were sweet and lovely. :)
I’m glad you’ve enjoyed your birthday this year. Told you nothing bad would happen.
Oh, and you look very pretty tonight!
